Default FH threading options.

I'm thinking I want a Levang Comp on my new STG556 and I'm wondering what my options are for threading. I don't really want the adapter, so can I just chase the end with a 1/2x28 die and use the existing ckecknut or is it better to let a gunsmith cut back the barrel and thread it fresh on the flat behind the checknut? BTW - I have a 20" barrel so length is not an issue. I'm not an AR guy so I don't know what the AR FH requirements are other than 1/2x28. Thanks

If you don't want to do the adapter (like I've done) then cut the bbl back & have it rethreaded. Your local 'smith should know how much threading needs to be done.
